Client Support Services

Client Support Services encompasses a number of programs targeted at PHAs (People Living with HIV/AIDS), some of the below programs and services are also open to people affected by HIV/AIDS). We focus on providing support and guidance to HIV positive people in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent regions. HIV is not a death sentence, and staying educated and informed is the key to continuing to live a happy and healthy lifestyle. AIDS Committee of Windsor and AIDS Support Chatham-Kent offer a variety of services aimed at supporting our clientele including:

Food and Nutrition Programs

Healthy and nutritious food is very important to good overall health, we have a number of programs aimed at addressing this area such as:

  • Hot lunch program each Thursday between 12-2pm for PHAs at the AIDS Committee of Windsor
  • Distribution of Ensure (meal replacement shakes)
  • Grocery cards
  • Canning and Preserving Workshops
  • Monthly PHA potluck in Chatham
  • Community Garden Program for PHAs in Chatham
  • Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner for PHAs in Windsor and Chatham
  • Christmas lunch for kids of PHAs in Windsor
  • Distribution of Goodfellow boxes in Windsor and Chatham

Support Services and Case Management

Client Services also offers counselling and social supports to clients including:

  • Case management, referrals and advocacy
  • Emergency financial assistance
  • Free anonymous and confidential monthly STI testing for PHAs
  • Drives program for medical appointments
  • Bus tickets
  • Youth programming that includes PHAs
  • Needle Exchange Program for PHAs

Social Events and Community Programming

Support services seeks to address the social isolation often caused by HIV/AIDS Stigma and peer networking supports of our services users. We offer a number of events throughout the year aimed at allowing PHAs to come together for fellowship and community including:

  • Annual retreat for PHA women in Windsor and London
  • 3 Beach retreat days
  • Opening Doors annual conference
  • Forums on Health Related topics
  • Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner for PHAs
  • Christmas lunch for kids of PHAs
  • Monthly PHA potluck in Chatham
  • Monthly PHA circular
