Programs

We strive to provide programs to a large geographic area encompassing the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent counties. With limited resources, this can be very difficult however we are working hard to build programs that will meet the needs of our community. If you are out of our program area, please contact us and we will do what we can to either extend the program or refer you to an appropriate resource.

African Caribbean Program – Windsor-Essex
This program reaches out to African Caribbean communities who are at risk, affected and living with HIV/AIDS offering education and prevention seminars.

Gay Mens Sexual Health – Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent
One of our longest standing programs, providing HIV prevention and support services for men who have sex with men.

Women and HIV – Windsor-Essex
The Women and HIV program is one of our newest programs, focussing on increasing the quality of life for women living with HIV and educating women at risk about HIV prevention.

Speakers Program – Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent
Our speakers program
provides educational presentations targeted at increasing awareness and educating the public about HIV/AIDS, Safer Sex and Harm reduction as well as the impact HIV and AIDS has on our community and people who live with or are impacted by HIV.

Client Support Services - Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent
Our Windsor office provides many options for support, including a food bank, weekly hot lunch program, workshops, social activities, one-on-one counselling, advocacy as well as referrals.

Chatham offers many of the same services including a luncheon on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, a regular drop-in and a new community garden.  

Harm Reduction - Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent
Since 1993 the AIDS Committee of Windsor has served the Windsor and Essex counties with one of the most effective and far reaching Harm Reduction programs in Canada! This includes both a drop in and outreach service. In 2010 we expanded the program to Chatham –Kent as well.

Harm Reduction & Opiate Sharing Circle – Chatham-Kent
Addictions can happen to anyone. Illicit or prescribed drug use can lead to physical dependence in some people. Choosing to end an addiction is often not easy but it can be done. The circle is open to anyone at any stage in their addiction. Thursday’s 4:30pm-5:30pm in the Chatham office only.

First Nations Services - Chatham-Kent
We work to serve our First Nations communities to bring free safer sex and harm reduction supplies, prevention education, referrals and food through outreach and drop-in.

Young and Proud - Windsor-Essex
Young & Proud is a support group for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-gendered and questioning youth between the ages of 14 and 29. Our focus is to provide support and educational services tailored towards the younger generation.

This program is available in both the Windsor and Chatham offices. Check our calendar for meeting dates.  

Women’s Fellowship Group - Chatham-Kent
This is a weekly drop-in service each Thursday for women at risk of HIV. We offer hot lunch,
hygiene kits, games and crafts as well as guest speakers.

HIV Rapid Testing - Windsor and Chatham

We offer a confidential and anonymous HIV Rapid testing every month in boith our Windsor and Chatham offices. You can know your results immediately and have access to counselling if necessary. Check our Calendar for testing nights.

Community Support Partners - Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent
The work we do could not be possible without the support of many community partners. We all have our role to play in ensuring social equity for those that need our services.
