Young & Proud

young_and_proud_final_logoYoung & Proud is a support group for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-gendered and questioning youth between the ages of 14 and 29.  Our focus is to provide support and educational services tailored towards the younger generation. We meet every Tuesday evening from 7p.m. - 9p.m, (and starting on May 17th we will be starting at 6 p.m) At the AIDS Committee of Windsor office located in downtown Windsor. Our doors are always open and new members are always welcome.

Our program is centered around open forum discussion about various topics including relationships, coming out, safe sex, and HIV/AIDS. As well when appropriate we attempt to plan a monthly social night where everyone is welcome for movies, games, crafting, or whatever strikes the group as something fun and entertaining.

Structure of Group Sessions

  • Introductions
  • Review of the group agreements
  • Check Ins
  • 15 Minute Break
  • Topic Discussion Activity

You Are Not Alone! Many youth, after attending group, have said they feel less alone, and have learned a lot of new information and make great new friends. However, if you feel as though Young & Proud is not for you, or maybe are uncomfortable in a group setting you can always call the Lesbian Gay Bi Youth Line at 1-800-268-YOUTH (1-800-268-9688) toll free from anywhere in Ontario.

Rainbow Health Ontario Another great resource for education and support is Rainbow Health Ontario. This is a province-wide program designed to improve access to services and to promote the health of Ontario's lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities.
