A Taste For Life Home Edition

Wednesday, April 22nd from 5pm – 6pm

A Taste for Life Home Edition is about keeping the spirit of A Taste for Life alive: coming together as a community, sharing a meal and breaking bread together in support of people living with HIV, while adapting to the need and our limitations during this pandemic.

Unfortunately, we cannot proceed with A Taste for Life as planned. This does not mean we have to be isolated during social isolation! We have reformatted A Taste for Life to bring us together no matter the circumstance.

We invite you to join us through audio and/or video to share a meal together.

Attendance to this event is free, but donations are always welcome!

You will be provided a link to a video call which you (& your family) can join with video or audio-only.

We will be joined by our wonderful restaurants who are working so hard to keep us fed while keeping us safe. Rather than asking them to donate a percentage of their sales, we are welcoming donations to cover meals for those who otherwise may not afford to join us with a dinner!

We will even enjoy dinner & a show! With some entertainment from a wonderful local performer Allesandro Rotondi.

We will be enjoying dinner together which you can share in one of several ways:

– Order delivery or takeout from one of our recommended restaurants!

– Provide a meal for a fellow community members through a small donation

– Request a meal delivered

– Utilize our provided resources to access mutual aid

– Make a meal yourself!

Attendance to this event is free, but donations are always welcome!

AIDS Committee of Windsor remains on the front lines during this pandemic. As an organization supporting people living with and affected by HIV and HCV we are doing our best to support our clients who may be facing additional concerns and challenges of immunodeficiency. We also continue to provide harm reduction supplies for our community and are responding to the still ongoing opioid epidemic.

About the AIDS Committee of WIndsor (ACW)

We are a registered charity that provides support, education, and outreach services to people living with, affected by, or at-risk of HIV/AIDS within the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent regions. Since 1988, the ACW has evolved to address the emerging needs of our community. Our committed volunteers, peers, board and staff work very hard to offer in- reach and outreach services through both our Support Service and Needle Syringe programs. We also deliver educational presentations, workshops and or training to community members and service providers working with populations that are most vulnerable to HIV and or HCV.

About “A Taste For Life” (When we’re not in a pandemic)

A Taste for Life started in Ottawa in 1999 in support of Bruce House and the Snowy Owl AIDS Foundation. Since then Taste has been joined by over 25 communities from Hamilton to Saskatoon, Toronto to Sudbury, London to Calgary. It has been successful in engaging with hundreds of restaurants and thousands of diners every year. The ACW would have been joining other Canadian communities and hosting our third A Taste for Life on Wednesday, April 22nd. A Taste for Life is also promoted nationally, including celebrities to be announced. Please visit www.atasteforlife.org for more details.

Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 A Taste for Life across Canada was cancelled or postponed.
