In the summer of 2016, local community renewal strategies witnessed numerous residents vocalizing concern for the growing visibility of persons who use substances in the community. As a result, these community initiatives partnered with ACW to provide residents with education on opioid use and gain their feedback regarding community driven solutions to support people who use substances.
The development of a community-wide anti-stigma campaign to promote a cultural shift in the understanding of people who use substances and the need for our community to collectively address the opioid crisis. “In order for us to change the narrative in the community, we need the community to be changes agents.”
